My Story

My culinary calling began at the age of 14 assisting my mother in a small catering business. My Mom and I ended up working together in a career that spanned over 35 years. After college, where I majored in Nutrition and Food Services Management, I worked in every facet of the food industry in Administration, Consulting and as a Business Owner, later becoming a PA certified educator, teaching culinary at a local school district.

But the pinnacle of our careers was working for the Philadelphia Phillies Baseball Club in the Owners Dining Room for over 20 years. My Mom and I catered thousands of dinners and parties for the Phillies Owners, their families, guests, sponsors, high-level politicians and celebrities. Most notable parties were the 1980, 1983, 1993 World Series, 1996 All Star Game and many ballplayer milestones to include Richie Ashburn, Mike Schmidt, Steve Carlton, Darren Daulton, Tommy Lasorda and more.

Some say, “Life is like a camera.” So, I’m taking a shot at opening my catering business into a storefront to focus on Grab n’ Go nutritious meals with catering and family dinners.

My Mom passed away in 2013. I’ve named the shop Dotty’s after my Mom. The logo is her signature from one of her catering jobs from 40 years ago. She is the inspiration and reason I still work in this industry and I hope to continue serving the community with the talent she empowered me with which, clearly - is a recipe for success.

All my best,
Marilyn
